Theodore Chan joined the Toronto Symphony Orchestra bass section in 2012. Prior to the TSO, Theodore was a tenured member of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra as Assistant Principal Bass, a position he won immediately following his studies at the University of Southern California. Mr. Chan has performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, National Arts Centre Orchestra, Manitoba Chamber Orchestra, Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra, Orquestra de la Communidad Valenciana, and the Santa Barbara Symphony. His major mentors include Dennis Trembly, David Allen Moore, and Joel Quarrington.
Theodore Chan was awarded a commendation from the City of Los Angeles for his "extraordinary commitment to the great tradition of classical music." Amidst many performance engagements, he remains committed to teaching and maintains a private teaching studio.
Theo studied bowmaking with Bernard Walke and Zdislaw Prochownik.
